Vaping dangers

As e-cigarettes become more & more popular, so too is the risk that your dog may well decide to try them too!  A lot of dogs love to chew, and e-cigarettes can be very tempting if left in their  reach. Some vaping liquids may also be flavoured, this makes them extra attractive to your dog.  Whilst nicotine toxicity is not new, e-cigarettes contain a liquid nicotine which, if ingested by your dog, could be a problem.  Symptoms to look out for if you suspect your dog has ingested any vaping liquid are -

  • vomiting
  • incoordination
  • weakness
  • irregular breathing
  • collapse
Liquid nicotine is absorbed into the bloodstream faster, leading to quicker onset of  clinical signs which can leave  less time for action. Reports suggest that some e-cigarettes contain diethylene glycol, which can cause kidney failure.

So our advice is to keep all e-cigarettes well out of reach at all times.
